Vegyn
artist
Vegyn is the London producer Joseph Thornalley. He runs the label PLZ Make It Ruins, which has put out his own records since 2014, along with work by Headache, John Glacier, Double Virgo, pigbaby and others.
His solo work runs at two extremes. The mixtapes are big and loose: some pass 70 tracks, made of rough ideas and scraps he chose to release rather than finish. The albums go the other way. His 2019 debut, Only Diamonds Cut Diamonds, was, as he puts it, "trying to cut this thing into a super sharp point". The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions (2024) kept the care but loosened into songs, written across studios, living rooms and hotels, with Ethan P. Flynn, Loraine James, John Glacier and Lauren Auder among the guests. Spoof radio drops and a low-level unease run through both.
In 2025 Air invited him to rework Moon Safari. Blue Moon Safari, released on Parlophone for Record Store Day, rebuilds the 1998 album from its original stems. It is darker and slower than the original, and still plainly the same record.
With his friend, the writer Francis Hornsby Clark, he makes Headache. Francis writes monologues for a narrator voiced by AI; Thornalley writes and produces the music around them. There are two albums, The Head Hurts but the Heart Knows the Truth (2023) and Thank You for Almost Everything (2025). The live show opened at Village Underground in London in May 2026 and has since played Dark Mofo and Dekmantel.
He also produces for other artists. He worked on Frank Ocean's Blonde and Endless, and on Travis Scott's "AstroThunder", "My Eyes" and "2000 Excursion". Other credits include Babyfather, Dean Blunt, John Glacier, Kali Uchis, The Crying Nudes, Elias Rønnenfelt and Duval Timothy.
For now, most of his time goes to Headache, which is on tour through the end of 2026.
