Drawing from a surreal, daydream-like cloud of reference points, the songwriting of mysterious Irish artist pigbaby is painfully honest, and sonically experimental, drawing from a history of oddball auteurs such as Daniel Johnson and Jim O’Rourke.
Calling in a host of friends to contribute saxophone, pianos, Irish-folk twinged violins and a swarsangam – a droning instrument popular in the Indian classical canon – pigbaby summons unreal musical collages, layering instrumentals with personal field recordings and deep internet ephemera. His debut collection of music Palindromes was released on PLZ Make It Ruins in 2022.
