The Head Hurts but the Heart Knows the Truth
Raised in Brooklyn by art school parents, Massachusetts-based songwriter and producer OTTO was exposed to the shock of the odd and the new from an early age. It’s had an indelible impact on his creative output. His music, a novel hodgepodge of mad scientist modular synth wizardry, high school grunge band earnestness and genuine sparks of avant-garde genius, is difficult to succinctly pin down.
His early work reached the ears of Vegyn, who offered to make PLZ Make It Ruins a home for his projects. The albums World Greetings and Clam Day – each presenting a different side to OTTO’s unorthodox take on pop – were both released on the label in 2020.
